Derby and Pit Rules

1. DISQUALIFICATION

A winner maybe disqualified from receiving any prize upon proof that the owner or handler participated in any irregularity such as tampering of wingbands or legbands, or inducing an entry to deliberately lose a fight. Penalty for this offense will result to the expulsion of any member for life from the CVBA. CVBA Board of Directors will decide on such matters.

2. ENTRY FEES

The entry fee to be paid in full and in cash, before the first fight of any entry.

3. MINUMUM BETS

Minimum bets shall be PHP 1,500.00 for 3-cock/stag derbies; PHP 2,200.00 for 4-cock/stag derbies; PHP 3,300.00 for 5 and above cock/stag derbies.

4. MATCHING

Accepted weights are from 1.7 to 2.2 kilos for stag derbies, 1.7 to 2.3 kilos for bullstag derbies, and 1.8 to 2.4 kilos for cock derbies.

5. LEGBANDING

All CVBA member entries are required to take their stags to the cockpit premises from 6:00 am to 12:00 pm for the needed legbanding on each derby day. Late-comers will be meted a fine of PHP 3,000.00 per entry regardless of reason. After legbanding is done, no legbanded stag will be allowed to leave the pit premises.

6. FINES

Maximum allowance upon weight-in is plus 35 grams to the registered weight. A PHP 3,000.00 fine is meted out on weights exceeding the 35 grams allowance but not beyond plus 50 grams the registered weight, which amount is given to the aggrieved entry. If the bad weight exceeds 15 grams, the offending entry is penalized an added fine of PHP 3,000.00 on top of which said entry is required to change the stag with another one in conformity to the weight limit, within 3 hours. If the offending entry fails to change the stag, then CVBA will provide, and said offending entry garners a "0" score. The incremental fine of PHP 3,000.00 goes to CVBA to shoulder expenses for the "joker" stag. A PHP 3,000.00 fine is imposed on fight delay regardless of reason. Said fine spans to only 7 fights so that after the 7-fight rule has lapsed, another PHP 3,000.00 is imposed for the next 7 fights and so forth. All related fines will be given to the aggrieved party. A foul line with a distance of 2 meters is painted across the rueda. Releasing a rooster on or beyond the line shall be imposed a fine PHP 5,000.00 regardless of the  pitter's intention or unawareness of the rule, in favor of the aggrieved party. In case the aggrieved entry is quick enough not to release his rooster, said penalty shall still be imposed outright.

7. "NO FIGHT" REQUESTS

Requests should be consensual between two owners, and their respective entries. Requests will be limited to a maximum, against 3 owners. Identity of owners will be based strictly on the registered name of the wingbands. Name of entries, nor the name of owner of said entries upon fight time, will be immaterial. Only the registered owners of the wingbands will be considered in "no fight" request.

8. GROUNDS FOR DISCONTINUATION OF FIGHT

Once inside the rueda, a rooster may be brought out by the handler only in the following instances:

a. If it is limping. If a rooster still limps after the second heeling, he
may be brought out by the handler for a second time, provided that after another 7 fights, said rooster shall be fought, limping or not limping. The third heeling of both parties shall be done inside the rueda.

b. If it dies before release.

c. If it refuses to fight.

d. If it is so sick or wounded that it cannot stand or walk, or does
not have a chance to win.

e. If it is wounded accidentally upon release prior to the
engagement of booth roosters.

f. If it refuses to fight after releasing. However, if the 2 roosters
have engaged each other on a single pass and one quits, the "kareo" shall push through, wounded or unwounded.

In cases 8b to 8f, said entry shall provide a legitimate stag replacement within 3 hours. In case of failure to come up with a replacement stag, said entry should pay a fine of PHP 3,000.00 in favor of the opposing entry. CVBA will provide the replacement stag after another 2 hours grace period.

9. CVBA reserves the right to accept or reject any entry.

10. All CVBA stag derbies will stat 1:00 pm sharp on each derby day.

11. A maximum of 3 minutes will be allowed for the squaring of bets.
Calls for odds (logro) will not be allowed inside the rueda. After the squaring of bets, another 2 minutes will be given for warming up the roosters. a fine of PHP 1,000.00 will be meted out on the entry whose "pecker" handler doesn't leave the rueda after 2 minutes time. This fine will be given to the opposing entry.

12. No entry shall be allowed to pack and leave the pit premises at any
point in time without first securing the needed pass signed by any CVBA director present.

13. No entry shall be awarded a point if such was not earned by way of a
fight. (No fight, no point system).

14. Use of double blade / Malaysian knife is prohibited.

15. Referees' decision is FINAL.

16. An ad hoc committee is created to particularly resolve and settle
conflicting matters that may crop up during the derby proper, with issues which are not covered in the aforementioned derby and pit rules. The ad hoc committee is composed of 5 directors and chaired by the president. Any decision reached by this committee is conclusive and final.

IT WILL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF EACH PARTICIPANT TO SECURE A COPY OF THE YEARLY UPDATED DERBY AND PIT RULES.
